Presets

Any button, knob or number box that you can tweak, turn or fiddle with in the Visual Stage app is called a parameter. The value of almost all parameters can be stored in presets. Presets are useful to save a given state of the app so you can get back to it later, or make chains of presets for various scenes of a given performance, with the possibility of switching back and forth between preset, and even smoothly interpolating between them, ie. continuously evolving the scene across time to make it reach the state of a given preset.

Parameters are spread across 6 types of presets, so that each of these 6 parts can be driven independently from each other. The most important types are idientified by a different color that you can find in the background of the related preset control interface as well as each parameter belonging to this type. This allows to quickly remember where a parameter value is stored just by looking at it.

Some other parameters, showing this color , are either never stored, or stored in the local setup storage (see Project settings for more info).

Each type of preset can be managed using an interface similar to the one below, detailed in Managing presets.

Any change to presets (creation, deletion, renaming, updating…) is instantaneously saved to disk in the Project folder, as explained in Manipulating preset files.
